Cal Baptist/Trevecca Recap - CBU got on the scoreboard first in the second inning when Nicole Shoemaker was hit by the pitch, moved to second on sacrifice bunt and scored on Allison Dennis' single. Trevecca tied the game at one in the bottom of the seventh with two outs to send it to extra innings. Kacey Coonce drove in Sara Nicholson with a bases loaded single. Cal Baptists’ Allison scored the winner in the 12th on a throw to the home plate.
Monday: Cal Baptist (58-6) 10 a.m.
Trevecca had 11 hits, two errors, and left 16 runners on base. CBU had five hits, and error and left 10 runners on base.
Lancer hurler Amy Thomas (31-4) pitched all 12 innings for California Baptist and threw 195 pitches for the win. Trevecca’s Brittiany Johnson (39-5) pitched 12 innings giving up five hits, four walks, two runs, and one earned run. Johnson had 14 strike outs. The senior All-American now has 1,183 career strike outs, third most in NAIA history.
Offensively Trevecca was paced by Megan Suggs and Sammy Simon. Suggs was 2-6 with a triple. Sammy Simon was 3-6. Kacey Coonce was 1-5 with a RBI. Sara Nicholson was 2-6 with a run.
