27th Annual NAIA Softball National Championship Information
Game 1: Trevecca, the tournament’s No. 4 seed defeated College of Idaho 2-1 in their first game of pool play. The Trojans improved to 51-6 while C of I fell to 21-18 on the year. Trevecca pulled ahead 1-0 with a run in the top of the first inning and both teams scored a run in their half of the third. Both teams had four hits. TNU had one error and COI had two. Brittiany Johnson (37-3) allowed just four hits, one run, and didn’t allow a walk. Johnson sat 11 Yotes down on strikes. Chelsea Bailey was 2-3 with two runs scored, a walk, and stole her 47th base of the season. Neither team had a extra base hit.
Game 2: Olivet scored a run in the top of the second and each team scored a run in the fourth to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead. Trevecca took their first lead with two runs in the fifth and added insurance with two runs in the sixth. ONU had two hits and no errors. TNU had 13 hits, no errors and left 10 runners on base. Brittiany Johnson (38-3) allowed two hits, two runs and one walk while striking out seven Tigers. Chelsea Bailey was 1-4 with a run scored. Megan Suggs was 3-4 with a run scored and two RBI. Karli Rush was 2-3 with a run scored. Johnson was 1-2 with a double, two walks, and a run scored. Sammy Simon was 1-4 with a double and a RBI. Sara Nicholson was 1-2 with a double. The double by Johnson gives her 22 on the year and extends her school season record.
