Trevecca is the No. 1 seed in this year’s NAIA Region XI tournament. The Region XI Tourney is being held at Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tenn. The tournament runs through Friday. Trevecca is the two-time defending champion.
TNU scored a run in the first before FHU tied the game with a run in the top of the fourth. The Trojans scored a single run in their half of the fourth and in the fifth. Trevecca had five hits and one error while Freed had five hits and three errors.
Brittiany Johnson (34-2) pitched the complete game for the win. The senior All-American allowed five hits, one run, six walks, and struck out 13.
Karli Rush, Johnson, and Ashley Camp all drove in runs. Chelsea Bailey, Camp, and Sammy Simon all scored a run. Rush, Suggs, and Bailey all had a stolen base.
Camp reached on an error with one out in the first. The senior scored on Brittiany Johnson’s double to deep right with two away. In the fourth inning Simon walked for the Trojans and scored on a two-out triple by Rush. In the fifth Bailey reached on a single. The junior stole second and advanced to third on a passed ball. She scored on a Camp 4-3 ground out.
Trevecca will face No. 2 seed Martin Methodist (43-13) on Thursday at 3 p.m.
