SOFTBALL: Beat Bethel 2-1 @ TSAC Tourney Wednesday
JACKSON, Tenn. - NAIA No. 5 Trevecca (44-5) opened the TranSouth tournament with a 2-1 win over Bethel College (16-29). Trevecca, received a first round bye before facing the No. 8 seed Bethel. The Wildcats defeated Lambuth 4-0 in the tournament’s first game. The 2008 TranSouth tournament is being played in Jackson, Tenn. at Union University’s Fesmire Field.
Trevecca will face No. 4 seed Union University (31-18) on Thursday at 5 p.m. Union defeated No. 5 see Lyon 5-4 in 11 innings on Wednesday afternoon.
Brittiany Johnson picked up her (30-2) thirtieth win of the season with a complete game three-hitter. Over seven innings the senior All-American allowed a run and no walks. She had 10 strike outs. Chelsea Bailey and Kacey Coonce were both 2-3 with a stolen base, and a run scored. Coonce added an RBI. Brittiany Johnson was 1-3 with a double, and a RBI. Trevecca scored both runs in the third inning and Bethel plated their run in the first. BC had three hits while TNU had eight and two errors.
