NASHVILLE, Tenn. - NAIA No. 4 Trevecca (36-4, 25-1) swept a pair of conference games with Lyon College (10-33, 8-18) 9-0 and 11-2 on Saturday at Trevecca’s softball complex.
Brittiany Johnson (22-1) started the first game and pitched three perfect innings for the win. The game was shortened to five innings due to the eight run rule. Johnson struck out two. Stephanie Fisher came on for the final two innings and allowed a hit and two walks while striking out three. Johnson was perfect at the plate going 3-3 with a run scored, a double, a three-run homer, and five RBI. Kacey Coonce was 1-2 with two runs scored, a stolen base, and a walk. TNU had 12 hits and no errors while LC had one hit and one error.
Brittiany Johnson (23-1) picked up the win in the second game with three innings of one hit baseball. Johnson added another three strike outs to her totals. Shelby Mashburn came on in relief and allowed four hits and two runs over two innings of work. Mashburn had two strike outs. Kacey Coonce was 3-3 with three runs scored and four RBI. Karli Rush was 2-3 with a run scored and a RBI.
Trevecca will host Mid-Continent University on Monday at 3 p.m. and will end their regular season with No. 17 Martin Methodist on Thursday at 4 p.m.
