Sweep No. 17 Martin Methodist
PULASKI, Tenn. - NAIA No. 4 Trevecca (28-4, 17-1) resumed a double-header with No. 17 Martin Methodist (28-7, 17-3) on Thursday. Trevecca won game one 7-5 and completed the sweep of the double-header with a 2-0 shutout in game two.
Trevecca was leading 7-0 when the rains game previously forcing the suspension of game one. Martin Methodist scored a run in the bottom of the fifth when the game was resumed on Thursday night. They made things interesting with a pair of runs in the sixth and seventh innings. Trevecca held on for the win. TNU had eight hits and three errors. MMC had five hits and two errors. Brittiany Johnson (15-1) got the win for Trevecca. The senior allowed five hits, five runs, two earned runs, five walks and had 11 strike outs. Johnson led the way at the plate too with a 2-2 performance. She had two runs, three RBI, a walk, and a double. Kacey Coonce was 1-3 with two runs scored, two RBI, a home run, and a walk.
In game two Trevecca got a 2-0 shut out win with Brittiany Johnson (16-1) going seven strong innings. She allowed just one hit and three walks while striking out 15 RedHawks. At the plate the All-American was 2-3 with a double. Karli Rush was 2-2 with a run scored, a RBI, and a walk. Cassidy Critchfield was 1-3 with a RBI and three stolen bases.
Trevecca will visit Crichton College (10-20, 8-10) on Friday for a 4 p.m. double-header.
