Fall at Mobile
MOBILE, Ala. - NAIA No. 4 Trevecca (14-1, 6-0) dropped their first game of the year in game one of a double header at NAIA No. 6 University of Mobile (16-3) on Thursday. Trevecca held the lead 1-0 headed into the bottom of the seventh when the Rams scored two and ended the 14-game win streak for the Trojans.
In game one Brittiany Johnson (7-1) lost for the first time this season. Brittiany Johnson pitched 6.1 innings and allowed four hits, six walks and a two runs. She also struck out 10 Rams. The two runs are the first earned runs Johnson has given up this season. Over her first 40.1 innings this season the senior All-American hadn’t allowed a earned run and only two unearned runs. Trevecca scored a run in the first, but would be held scoreless the remainder of the game. Trevecca held Mobile scoreless until the seventh inning when they plated two runs for the victory. TNU had seven hits and no errors while Mobile had four hits and three errors.
In game two the Rams took the lead early with three in the first and four in the second. Trevecca scored a pair of runs in the fourth, but the Rams answered with another three. Megan Suggs was 2-2 with a run and a RBI. Trevecca had seven hits and two errors. Mobile had 14 hits and an error. Stephanie Fisher (5-1) started and allowed 14 hits, 10 runs and two walks while striking out six.
Trevecca will return to conference play on Saturday (March 22) at Lambuth University. Trevecca’s softball game on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at Mobile will be available LIVE (video) over the internet.
