Game One: The Trojans scored four in the first and led 4-1 after the Pirates posted a run in the bottom of the first. Trevecca added four more in the second and two in the third. AASU added two in the fourth and one run in the fifth and seventh innings for the final of 10-5. Trevecca had 15 hits and two errors. Armstrong had six hits and no errors. Trevecca had four home runs in the game. Kacey Coonce was 3-3 with two runs scored, six RBI, a double and two home runs. Cassady Critchfield was 1-3 with a run scored, two RBI, a walk and a home run. Karli Rush had the other home run.
Game Two: The Pirates scored in their half of the first, but TNU’s Karli Rush hit her second home run of the day in the second inning to put the Trojans up 2-1. It was a 2-run home run and her fourth of the season. Trevecca scored another run in the third and led 3-1 until the Pirates posted two runs in the sixth. The Trojans answered with a Sarah Nicholson solo home run in the seventh and Brittiany Johnson came in for the save in the bottom of the seventh. For Nicholson that was her first career home run. Brittiany Johnson started the game and pitched through five innings. Stephanie Fisher pitched the sixth and then Johnson picked up the save with a perfect seventh. Johnson pitched six innings and allowed one unearned run and four walks. She struck out four and didn’t allow a hit. Fisher (6-0) got the win after allowing three hits, two runs and a walk. Kacey Coonce was 2-2 with a run scored with a double, a walk and a hit by pitch. Karli Rush was 1-3 with a run scored and two RBI.
NAIA No. 6 University of Mobile (15-3) is on the schedule for Thursday at 5 p.m. Trevecca will return to conference play on Saturday (March 22) at Lambuth University. Trevecca’s softball game on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at Mobile will be available LIVE (video) over the internet.
