SOFTBALL: Get Two @ Mid-Continent Saturday
MAYFIELD, Ky. – NAIA No. 4 Trevecca (10-0, 6-0) took both games of a double-header at Mid-Continent University (4-14, 2-8) on Saturday 11-0 and 10-4.
The Trojans took the first game 11-0 with 19 hits. Mid-Continent had just one hit and three errors. Trevecca scored three in the first and put four on the board in the fourth and fifth innings. Brittiany Johnson (6-0) picked up the win for Trevecca. The All-American allowed just one hit and struck out eight in four innings of work. Shelby Mashburn came in for the fifth and allowed just one hit and a walk. Johnson also contributed offensively with her second home run of the year. Ashley Camp was 2-4 with three RBI. Chelsea Bailey was 2-4 with three runs, two RBI and two stolen bases.
In game two the Trojans won 10-4 with 11 hits and no errors. The Cougars had four hits and no errors. Trevecca scored one in the second and posted two runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth. TNU posted three in the seventh. MCU scored three in the fourth and one in the fifth. Stephanie Fisher (4-0) picked up the win for the Trojans with 13 strikeouts and allowed four runs, five hits and two walks. Megan Suggs led the offensive effort with a 3-3 performance at the plate with six RBI, a three-run home run, and two stolen bases. For Suggs it was her first collegiate home run.
Trevecca will take to the road for Spring Break. The team will play 3-15 Savannah State (Ga.) on Tuesday, Armstrong Atlantic (19-12) also of Savannah, Ga. on Wednesday and visit No. 13 University of Mobile (Ala.) on Thursday. The team will return to conference play on Saturday (March 22) at Lambuth University.
