SOFTBALL: Sweep Lambuth, Host NCAA D2 No. Ala. Tuesday
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - NAIA No. 4 Trevecca (16-3, 8-0) will return to conference play on Tuesday when they host NCAA D2 North Alabama at 3 p.m. On Saturday the Trojans swept a pair of games at Lambuth University (5-6, 2-4) by the score of 7-0 and 10-1.
In game one junior Kacey Coonce was 4-4 with a home run, a double and three RBI. Brittiany Johnson (7-1), who was 3-3 with a pair of doubles and two RBI, also picked up another victory in the circle pitching five innings while allowing three hits, walking three and fanning ten. Shelby Mashburn pitched two innings and allowed just one hit, a walk and struck out one. TNU had 13 hits and no errors while LU had four hits and an error.
Stephanie Fisher (7-1) threw a complete game (six innings) and allowed three hits, a run, five walk and struck out five. Coonce and fellow junior Chelsea Bailey led the charge offensively combining to drive in six of the ten runs the Trojans pushed across the plate. Coonce went 3-4 with four RBI, a run scored, a stolen base and a double. Bailey was 4-5 with two runs scored, two RBI and three stolen bases. Megan Suggs was 3-4 with three RBI, two runs scored, a double and a stolen base. Trevecca had 15 hits and an error while Lambuth had three hits and three errors. Trevecca had nine stolen bases in the game.
