The Trevecca men's soccer team faced a new era in the 2004 season. The team, under the leadership of first year Head Coach Jeff Carr, blossomed to a record 30+ players in preseason tryouts. By the time the season began, Coach Carr had at least 22 dedicated players on the roster and ready to play.
The Trojans faced probably the most difficult regular season schedule in Trevecca men's soccer history. Nine of the team's first ten games came on the road and included two NCAA D-I opponents and one NCAA D-II opponent. Trevecca struggled early, but managed a 4-2 win on the road over TranSouth Conference opponent Freed-Hardeman University. Throughout the rest of the season, the Trojans fought to a 0-0 tie against Lee University and a 2-2 tie against Georgetown College in the team's final game of the season.
Although Trevecca finished with a 1-14-2 overall record, the Trojans saw two Trevecca men's soccer players earn TranSouth Conference postseason awards. Senior Gonzalo Elorza and junior Paulo Couto were both named to the 2004 All-TranSouth Conference Second Team. With only four seniors on the team, the Trojans gained much needed experience during the 2004 season to ensure that the 18 players with the chance to return next year will be prepared for battle once again in the 2005 Trevecca men's soccer season.
