NASHVILLE, Tenn. – NAIA No. 16 Trevecca (10-7, 4-3) defeated Mid-Continent University (8-10, 0-6) by the score of 98-57 on Saturday.
Mid-Continent's Katie Mays hit a shot in the post with 17:08 to go in the first half and cut the lead to just one point at 8-7. Trevecca began to pull away with a 12-3 run that culminated in Abby Lawson basket at the 9:26 mark. After a Cougar basket the Trojans mounted a 23-3 run that gave them a 43-15 lead with just 48 seconds remaining in the half. Trevecca led 49-19 at the break.
The second half saw much of the same as the Trojans dominated outscoring the Cougars 52-38 in the second half to secure the 97-57 victory.
MyRanda Wright led Trevecca with 18 points while Abby Lawson (16), K.C. Van Atta (15), Kristin Archie (13), and Mariska Reed (12) all scored in double figures. Lawson led the team with nine rebounds and rounded out her game with three assists, two blocks and a pair of steals. Jennifer Bognar had a team high three blocks and Casey Attebery led the team in assists with eight.
Trevecca will host Blue Mountain College (5-13, 1-6) on Monday at 6 p.m.
