2007-08 Trevecca Women's Basketball Schedule/Results

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Fall to No.1 Union in TSAC Semifinals
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – NAIA No. 20 Trevecca (19-11) lost in the TranSouth Semifinals at No. 1 and undefeated Union University (31-0) on Friday by the score of 82-74. Trevecca's seniors are now 99-33 in their career.
 
Jennifer Bognar (Hillsboro) became the third member of this Trevecca team to surpass the 1,000 point career scoring mark. Mariska Reed and Kristin Archie are also in the 1,000 point club. Bognar is the eighth player in Trevecca women’s basketball history to surpass the 1,000 point scoring mark.
 
The game didn’t start until 8:15 p.m. because the Trevecca bus was caught in traffic on the interstate due to a traffic accident. Once past the accident winter weather delayed their progress further. The game was scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m.
 
Trevecca jumped out to a 3-0 start and didn’t allow a Union basket until the 15:01 mark of the first half. Trevecca led until Union tied the game at 11 with 10:39 to go in the first half. Union didn’t gain the lead (19-17) until the 6:33 mark. Union pulled ahead by 10 points (38-28) and lead at the half 38-30.
 
Trevecca cut the Union lead to just four points on a couple of occasions in the second half. The first came at the 17:38 mark (39-35) and the second came at the 16:51 mark (41-37) of the second half. Trevecca later cut the game to five points (58-53) with 10:45 to go in the game. Union pulled ahead again and lead by as many as 16 points before the Trojans cut to eight (82-74) for the final score.
 
Mariska Reed led Trevecca with 22 points and shared the team high in rebounding (6) with K.C. Van Atta. Abby Lawson (13) and Kristin Archie (13) also reached double-figure scoring. Reed was 7-of-10 from the field and hit 4-of-5 from beyond the three point line.
 
Trevecca will advance to the NAIA National Tournament in Jackson, Tenn. The tournament will run from March 19 through the 25th.
