WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Defeats @ Blue Mountain Saturday
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – NAIA No. 19 Trevecca (16-9, 10-5) defeated Blue Mountain College (5-22, 1-15) by the scored of 100-64 on Saturday.
Trevecca started the game with, the first of what would be several runs in the first half, a 11-0 run. The Toppers scored their first points at the 16:32 mark of the first half. Trevecca had a 9-0 run that end at the 13:10 mark. Trevecca led 22-4 at that point. An 8-0 run game Trevecca a 48-18 lead with 4:00 to go in the half. Trevecca had a 7-0 run that put them ahead 55-22 with 1:25 to go. Trevecca led 57-24 at the half.
Trevecca hit 8-of-11 from three-point range in the first half and were 18-of-32 from the field.
Trevecca continued to build on their lead in the second half and outscored BMC 43-40 In the second half to claim the 100-64 victory.
Trevecca was led in scoring by Abby Lawson with 20 points. She was joined in double-figure scoring by Kristin Archie (17), K.C. Van Atta (16), MyRanda Wright (11), and Mariska Reed (13) points. Jennifer Bognar had a team high nine rebounds and Archie had seven. Reed led the team with five rebounds and Christian Gibson had a team high four assists. Trevecca outrebounded Blue Mountain 40-33. Trevecca hit 11-of-17 from three-point range.
Trevecca will visit No. 1 Union University (26-0, 15-0) on Monday at 6:00 p.m.
