WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Fall @ No. 1 Union
JACKSON, Tenn. – NAIA No. 19 Trevecca (16-10, 10-6) fell to No. 1 Union University (27-0, 16-0) by the score of 99-86 on Monday.
Union opened the game with a 13-4 run. With 11:54 to go in the first half Union led 22-11. Trevecca pulled to within two points (25-23) with 8:48 to go in the first half with a 12-3 run. With Union leading 40-37 the Bulldogs close the half with a 7-0 run to claim a 47-37 lead.
Union built on its lead as the second half started and lead 56-41 with 17:11 to go in the game. Trevecca closed the gap to just eight points several times including a 63-55 score at the 13:27 mark. Trevecca wasn’t able to cut the lead any further and fell by the final of 99-86.
Kristin Archie, the TranSouth Player of the Week, led Trevecca with 20 points. Abby Lawson (18), Mariska Reed (17), Jennifer Bognar (13), and Christian Gibson (10) points also scored in double figures. Reed led the team eight rebounds. Lawson led the team with five assists.
Trevecca will visit Mid-Continent University (9-19, 1-15) on Thursday at 6 p.m.
