LEBANON, Tenn. – NAIA No. 11 Trevecca (5-2) finished the two-day Nationwide Classic at Cumberland University with a 94-56 victory over Virginia Intermont (4-6) at the Dallas Floyd Recreation Center.
Trevecca dominated the game from the start as they scored the first 10 points of the game. Virginia Intermont closed the Trojan lead to just six points at 16-10, but the Trojans put the game away with a 18-0 run. When the run was over Trevecca held a 36-10 lead with 13:14 to go in the half. The Trojans led 45-17 at the intermission. TNU outscored VIC 49-39 in the second half to complete the 94-56 victory.
Kristin Archie, Jennifer Bognar, and K.C. Van Atta led Trevecca with 13 point apiece. Mariska Reed (12) rounded out the double figure scorers for Trevecca. Jessica Spencer led the team with nine rebounds. Christian Gibson led the team with four assists. Abby Lawson (2) topped the block list and Archie (4) was tops on the steals list. All 11 Trojans who played scored in the game.
Trevecca shot 34-72 (47%) from the field, 7-20 (35%) from three-point range, and 19-32 (59%) from the foul line. Trevecca led in several team categories including; turnovers (15-31), rebounding (50-44), steals (15-7), points off of turnovers (27-14), points in the paint (48-18), and bench scoring (36-12).
Trevecca’s final home game of 2007 will be against nationally ranked (No. 20) Georgetown College (8-2) on Thursday, December 20 at 6 p.m.
