2007-08 Trevecca Women's Basketball Schedule/Results

LEBANON, Tenn. – NAIA No. 11 Trevecca (4-2) started the two-day Nationwide Classic at Cumberland University with an 89-81 victory over NAIA No. 26 Berry College (9-2) at the Dallas Floyd Recreation Center.

With Berry leading 13-12 at the 12:00 minute mark of the first half Trevecca went on a 14-2 run to take an 11-point 26-15 lead at the 7:51 mark. With 3:00 to go in the first half Trevecca led 39-25, but the Vikings weren’t through. Berry finished the half with an 8-1 run to close the game to just seven points at 40-33.

Trevecca held a comfortable lead for most of the second half until Berry made a run late in the game. Trevecca led 71-60 with 7:20 to go when Berry went on a 12-4 run to close the game to just three points with 3:40 to go. Trevecca hit some clutch shots from the field and the free throw line to hold of the Vikings and claim the 8-point victory.

Abby Lawson led Trevecca with 24 points while five other players joined her in double figure scoring. Jennifer Bognar (15), Christian Gibson (13), Mariska Reed (12), and MyRanda Wright (10) all scored in double figures. Bognar and Kristin Archie led the team with seven rebounds. Casey Attebery had a team high four assists. Lawson (5) and Gibson (4) led the way in the steal category. Wright had two blocks.

As a team Trevecca was 32-71 (45%) from the field, 6-12 (50%) from three-point range, and 19-22 (86%) from the foul line. Berry outrebounded Trevecca 34-28 but the Vikings turned the ball over 34 times while the Trojans returned the favor just 16 times. Trevecca led in three key hustle categories; 32-6 in points off of turnovers, 46-32 points in the paint, and 36-18 in bench scoring.

Trevecca will complete play in the Nationwide Classic at Cumberland University versus Virginia Intermont (4-4) at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Trevecca’s final home game of 2007 will be against nationally ranked Georgetown College (8-2) on Thursday, December 20 at 6 p.m.
