BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – NAIA No. 4 Trevecca (2-1) defeated NAIA No. 22 Brescia University (1-3) 94-65 on Saturday.
Trevecca opened the game on a 8-0 run and led 22-2 at the 12:48 mark of the first half. With 4:16 remaining in the half Trevecca led by 26 points (43-17) and would settle for a 23-point (47-24) lead at halftime. TNU outscored Brescia 19-8 on points off of turnovers and 16-4 in bench points in the first half.
Trevecca continued to slowly increase its margin over Brescia in the second half and held their largest advantage of the game at 34 points with 2:49 remaining in the games. The Trojans ended the game with a 29-point (94-65) victory.
K.C. Van Atta led four Trojans in double-figures with 20 points. Abby Lawson scored 13, Mariska Reed added 12 and Jennifer Bognar made the All-Tournament team after adding 11 points and a team high nine rebounds and three blocked shots. Casey Attebery led the team with three steals. Van Atta added six rebounds and hit 7-of-14 from the field including 6-of-11 from three-point range. Christian Gibson led the team with six assists.
As a team Trevecca was 32-of-72 (44%) from the field, 16-of-39 (41%) from three-point range, and hit 14-of-21 (67%) from the foul line. TNU had the edge in rebounding (47-40), points off of turnovers (30-16), and bench points (44-12).
Trevecca will play the Nashville All-Stars in an exhibition game on Saturday, November 17 at 6 p.m.
