2007-08 Trevecca Men's Basketball Schedule/Results

MEN'S BASKETBALL: Beat Upset Minded Mid-Continent
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – NAIA No. 12 Trevecca (14-4, 6-2) defeated Mid-Continent University (8-12, 3-5) by the score of 81-69 on Saturday. Trevecca is now 5-0 all-time versus Mid-Continent University.

The Cougars, fresh off an upset at No. 8 Lambuth University on Thursday night, looked to for a repeat performance at Moore Gym on Saturday. Mid-Continent charged ahead 7-2 before the Trojans evened the score at seven. Trevecca pulled ahead 16-10 with 10:39 to go in the first half on a Josh Helton field goal. Helton had 18 points in the first half on his way to a game high 25. The Cougars rallied and took a 23-22 lead with 5:31 on the clock. The Cougars broke a 28 all tie on a Tiron Peoples three-point basket with 2:13 to go. Trevecca scored the final four points of the half and led 34-31 at the break.
 
The second half started as the first half ended with Trevecca on a run. The Trojans outscored the Cougars 6-2 to start the second half and led 40-33. The Cougars would never get closer than four points the remainder of the game. MCU cut the TNU lead to just four points (48-44) for the last time with 12:28 to go. Trevecca led by as many as 14 points in the second half and settled for the 81-69 victory.
 
Collins Onyando led Trevecca with his fifth double-double of the season with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Onyando now has 848 rebounds. The school record is 993 held by David Suddeth. Josh Helton had a game high 25 points and a team high four assists. DeJon Everson and Marcos Salvi had a pair of steals each.
 
Trevecca will host Blue Mountain College (0-19, 0-9) on Monday at 8 p.m.
