MEN'S BASKETBALL: Fall in TranSouth Finals
JACKSON, Tenn. – NAIA No. 19 Trevecca (24-8) fell 88-71 at Lambuth University (28-3) in the TranSouth Tournament Championship game on Tuesday.
Trevecca led 10-9 with 16:42 to go in the first half when Lambuth used a 11-2 run to take a 20-12 lead with 13:54 remaining in the first. Trevecca tied the game at 28 with 5:39 to go, but Lambuth stretched the lead to five (33-28) with 4:52 to go in the half. The Eagles would hold on for a 42-38 lead at the break. Brian Oduor led Trevecca with 13 first half points and Jeremy Weddle led Lambuth with 14.
Christopher Harris gave the Trojans the lead (47-46) with 17:09 to go in the game on a three-pointer. Lambuth would regain the lead (57-56) with 13:11 to go. With the Eagles leading 66-64 they pulled ahead with a 73-66 and held on for the 88-71 victory.
Brian Oduor led TNU with 21 points while Collins Onyando (16) and Matthew Elliot (14) also scored in double figures. Josh Helton led Trevecca in rebounds with six and in assists with four. Rick James had a team high three steals.
Trevecca’s NAIA Tournament seed, opponent and game time will be announced on Wednesday.
