MEN'S BASKETBALL: Fall to No. 10 Martin Methodist

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – NAIA No. 17 Trevecca (19-7, 11-5) fell to NAIA No. 10 Martin Methodist (23-4, 14-3) by the score of 80-70 on Thursday.
After Trevecca scored the first five points of the game, Martin Methodist answered with 10 straight to take a 10-5 lead with 16:41 to go in the half. Trevecca rallied back and took a 18-13 lead with 10 minutes to go in the first half. The RedHawks tied the game at 20 with 8:50 on the clock. Trevecca was able to take a 30-28 lead at the break.
The RedHawks started the second half with a 11-3 run to take a 39-33 lead with 17:19 on the clock. Trojans roared back to tie the game at 39 with 14:20 to go on a dunk by Brian Oduor. The RedHawks pulled ahead 62-54 with 5:49 to play. Trevecca cut the lead to four points (72-68) with 1:49 to play and had the ball, but missed two opportunities before turning the ball over. The RedHawks were able to seal the win with free throws in the final minute and claimed the 80-70 victory.
Brian Oduor led Trevecca with 17 points and Rick James added 11 points. Oduor also had nine rebounds. Josh Helton led the team with four assists and Oduor had a team high two blocks.
Trevecca will visit Blue Mountain College on Saturday at 4 p.m.
