MEN'S BASKETBALL: Fall @ Union
JACKSON, Tenn. – NAIA No. 17 Trevecca (20-7, 12-5) fell to Union University (14-12, 8-8) by the score of 73-68 on Monday.
The Trojans owned a 25-14 lead after a 7-0 run. Union answered with a 8-0 run to pull back to within three point at the 10 minute mark. Trevecca pulled ahead again by 10 points (32-22) with 7:41 to go. Union pecked away at the lead and pulled to within five (37-32) at the intermission.
Union started the second half on a roll and took their first lead of the game at 41-39 with 17:42 to play. After Trevecca regained the lead at 46-43 Union pulled ahead again at 56-48 with 8:32 to play. Trevecca put together a 9-0 run to regain the lead at 59-56. Union pulled ahead again 69-66 with 1:23 to play. Union held on for the 73-68 victory.
Collins Onyando led Trevecca with 19 points. Josh Helton (14) and Rick James (12) were the only other two players to score in double figures for the Trojans. Helton had a team high nine rebounds and Onyando had eight. Brian Oduor led the team in blocks (2) and steals (3).
Trevecca will visit Mid-Continent University (10-20, 5-13) on Thursday at 8 p.m.
