MEN'S BASKETBALL: 12-1 and 4-0 in TranSouth
MCKENZIE, Tenn. – NAIA No. 8 Trevecca (12-1, 4-0) defeat Bethel College (9-4, 0-3) 83-74 on Saturday. Trevecca now has its most wins in school history with only one loss. Trevecca will host a key TranSouth game they host Lambuth on Monday at 8 p.m. Both teams are 12-1 and 4-0 in conference play.
Bethel started the game leading 4-0, but Trevecca answered with a 15-2 run that put them ahead 15-6 with 11:30 to play in the first half. With six minutes to go in the half Trevecca led 24-16, but Bethel tied the game at 29 with 2:19 remaining in the half with a 13-5 run. The teams were tied at 31 at the break.
Bethel pulled ahead 36-31 to start the second half and Trevecca answered with a 7-0 run to regain the lead. Bethel pushed ahead 47-46 with 11 minutes to go in the game. Trevecca went on a 14-0 run to take a 60-47 lead with seven minutes to play. Trevecca was able to hold off the Wildcats and secure the 83-74 win.
Christopher Harris and Matthew Elliot led Trevecca in scoring with 17 points apiece. Josh Helton also scored in double figures with 10. Collins Onyando led the team with 10 rebounds. Elliot led Trevecca with five assists. Onyando led the team with four steals. Brian Oduor.
On Monday Trevecca will host No. 12 Lambuth (12-1, 4-0) at 8 p.m. at Moore Gym.
