NASHVILLE, Tenn. – NAIA No. 19 Trevecca (17-5, 9-3) fell to #RV Crichton (13-10, 7-6) by the score of 69-58 on Monday night. Crichton was the preseason NAIA No. 2 team.
Crichton took a 10-4 lead before the Trojans pulled ahead 11-10 with 15:10 to go in the first half. Trevecca used a 6-0 run to pull ahead 17-12 with 11:00 minutes to play. Trevecca would hold the lead until Crichton used a full court press to fuel a 16-7 run to take a 33-32 halftime lead.
Trevecca used a 10-6 run to start the second half and claim a 42-39 lead. The Comets answered with a 10-0 run to take a 49-42 lead with 11:14 to go. Trevecca cut the Crichton lead to just four points (62-58) with 1:29 to go, but turned the ball over on successive possessions and the Comets pulled away for the 69-58 victory. It was just the second loss for the Trojans at home this season and are now 9-2 at home.
Collins Onyando led Trevecca in scoring with 15 points and added a team high 12 rebounds for a double-double. Onyando had a team high six assists while hitting 7-of-9 from the field. Josh Helton was the only other Trojans in double figures with 14 points.
Trevecca will visit #RV Union University (14-8, 8-4) on Thursday, February 7 at 8 p.m.
