Nick Shoup (8-5) took the mound for the Trojans and over the first seven innings he pitched a terrific game. Shoup gave up two hits, both solo home runs. The game was tied 2-2 going to the top of the eighth inning. The Tigers put four runs on the board for a 6-2 lead. Trevecca scored a run in the bottom half, but Campbellsville added three more in the top of the ninth for a 9-3 lead.
Trevecca rallied with five runs, including a Cody Heggie grand slam, but couldn’t get the sixth and tying run. TNU had nine hits and two errors while CU had eight hits and one error.
Marty Parks was 1-4 with two runs scored, a walks, a home run, and a RBI. Heggie was 2-5 with a run, four RBI, and a grand slam. Brian Dirheimer also added a home run. He was 1-4 with a run scored, RBI, and a walk.
