LEBANON, Tenn. – NAIA No. 16 Trevecca (36-15) fell 21-0 in the first round of the double-elimination NAIA Region XI Tournament at Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tenn. on Tuesday. Campbellsville University (27-18), qualified by winning the Mid-South Conference Tournament, got a home run from their second batter and added two more runs in the top of the first on the way to a 21-0 rout of the No. 2 seeded Trojans.
The No. 5 seeded Tigers had 16 hits and no errors in the game. TNU had three hits and three errors. Campbellsville took a 4-0 lead with a run in the second and added five in the fourth. All doubt was erased in the fifth when the Tigers posted nine runs on the board to take a 18-0 lead. They added three more in the sixth. Nick Shoup (8-4) started for the Trojans and took the loss. Shoup lasted only two-thirds of an inning.
Trevecca will face the loser of the #1 seeded Cumberlands (Ky.) and #6 seeded Martin Methodist game on Wednesday at 10 a.m.
