BASEBALL: Beat Union, Advance to Thursday
MILLINGTON, Tenn. – NAIA No. 16 Trevecca (35-13) defeated No. 3 seed Union University (25-16-1) 10-2 in Wednesday’s elimination game.
Trevecca won’t know for sure who and when they’ll play on Thursday until today’s tournament play is completed. Check www.transouth.org for details later this evening.
Trevecca opened the game with a run in the top of the first. The game was decided in the third with the Trojans scored seven runs. Union scored their two runs in the sixth inning and Trevecca closed the scoring with two in the eighth. TNU had 14 hits and an error. UU had seven hits and two errors.
Wesley Griggs (10-2) pitched a complete game allowing seven hits, two runs, six walks and had six strike outs. Marty Parks, Chris Lowe, Wade Angel, Brett Thaler, and Ross Muirhead all had two hit games. Parks scored two runs and drove a run in. Cody Heggie had a triple, Thaler had a double, and Aaron Bree had a stolen base. Brian Dirheimer had two RBI.
