BASEBALL: Fall 4-0 to Cumberland, Face Union Wednesday
MILLINGTON, Tenn. – NAIA No. 16 Trevecca (34-13) fell 4-0 to the tournament’s No. 4 seed Cumberland University (38-19) on Tuesday.
Trevecca, the tournament’s top seed, will face No. 3 seeded Union University (25-15-1) at Noon on Wednesday in an elimination game.
Cumberland scored all the runs they’d need in the bottom of the first when they plated three. They would add a run in the fifth. The Bulldogs had nine hits and an error.
Bulldog ace and first team all-conference pitcher Lance McClain (7-2) limited Trevecca to four hits. McClain pitched all nine innings and allowed two walks and had nine strike outs. The Trojans played errorless ball.
Trevecca’s Marty Parks and Ross Muirhead each had a double. Landry Walker had a stolen base. Nick Shoup (8-3) started for the Trojans and allowed nine hits, four runs and three walks. Shoup had eight strike outs. Drew Durossette came on to pitch the ninth for TNU. He allowed a walk and had a strike out.
