BASEBALL: Beat Lindsey Wilson 21-7 with Five Triples
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – NAIA No. 17 Trevecca (27-11) rolled over Lindsey Wilson (20-25) 21-7 on Wednesday, Trevecca had 22 hits and five triples in the game. Wade Angel had two triples and Trevecca had three triples in the fifth inning.
Trevecca opened the game with four runs in the bottom of the first. The Blue Raiders made it a one run game with three in the third inning. The Trojans responded with two in the third, one in the fourth and five in the fifth to take a 12-3 lead. LWC scored three in the sixth and cut the TNU lead to just six at 12-6. Trevecca surged ahead again with nine runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 21-6 lead and secured the win. LWC plated a run in the seventh, but Trevecca closed the game out by forcing the 10-run rule after seven innings.
Trevecca had 22 hits and two errors. Lindsey Wilson had 10 hits and two errors.
Brent Amburn (4-1) started for the Trojans and lasted 5.2 innings allowing seven hits, six walks and six runs. He struck out three. Chris Sutherland pitched to one batter in the sixth and Steven Brown came on to get the final out of the sixth and the seventh inning.
Wade Angel was 2-4 with a pair of triples and two runs scored. Dylan Lynch was 3-5 with two doubles, a home run, a run scored and five RBI. Marty Parks and Chris Lowe were 3-5 and two runs scored. Lowe had three RBI and a triple. Parks had a stolen base, a double, a walk and an RBI. Adam Bland was 2-3 with three RBI, a double, a triple, three runs scored, and two walks. Ross Muirhead was 3-4 with a stolen base, a double, two runs scored and two RBI.
Trevecca will host senior day Friday at Noon. The Trojans will face Mid-Continent (9-33, 0-17) in a double-header on Friday.
