BASEBALL: Split with Union
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – NAIA No. 15 Trevecca (22-10, 9-2) split a double header with Union University (16-9-1, 6-5-1) on Saturday. TNU took the first game 4-2 and lost the second game 1-0.
In game one Wesley Griggs (6-2) and Drew Durossette combined for a five hit victory over the Bulldogs. Durossette picked up his first save of the season. Offensively Marty Parks and Brian Dirheimer had solo home runs for the Trojans. Griggs lasted six innings and allowed four hits, two runs, and two walks. He had two strikeouts. Durossette pitched the seventh and allowed a hit and a walk before closing out the Bulldogs. Parks was 1-3 with a run, home run, and RBI. Dylan Lynch was 2-3 with a run scored. Cody Heggie was 1-3 with a double and a RBI. Dirheimer was 1-2 with a home run, a walk, a run, and a RBI.
Through six innings neither team scored and had combined for only three hits. In the top fo the seventh Union pushed across a run with the help of a passed ball and a wild pitch. Nick Shoup (6-1) took the loss though he allowed just four hits, and unearned run, and four walks. He struck out three. Wade Angel (triple) and Dylan Lynch had the only hits for Trevecca.
Trevecca will host Bethany College (22-8) on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
