BASEBALL: Beat Berry 4-1
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – NAIA No. 8 Trevecca (21-9, 8-1) defeated former conference foe Berry College (24-12) 4-1 in a single game on Tuesday. The teams were originally scheduled to play two games starting at Noon.
Wesley Griggs (5-2) picked up the win as he pitched five innings of one-hit shutout baseball. Griggs struck out four and didn't walk a single batter. Drew Durossette pitched three innings and allowed three hits. Steven Brown pitched the ninth and allowed three hits, a walk, and a run before shutting the door on the Vikings.
Offensively centerfielder Marty Parks set the pace with a 3-5 performance. He had two runs, a RBI, a stolen base and two doubles. Brian Dirheimer was 2-3 with a double as well. Dylan Lynch was 1-4 with a run scored, a double and a RBI. The Trojans had 11 hits and one error while the Vikings had seven hits and no errors.
Trevecca will return to conference play with a home weekend series with Union University (15-7-1, 5-4-1) on Friday (single game at 2 p.m.) and Saturday (Noon double-header).
