BASEBALL: Defeat Bethel, Get 20th Win
McKenzie, Tenn. – NAIA No. 8 Trevecca (20-9, 8-1) defeated conference foe Bethel College (20-10, 4-7) on Friday 7-2. Trevecca secured 20th victory of the season and have now won 20 games or more in seven consecutive seasons.
The Trojans put a run on the board in the top of the second and three more in the third. The Wildcats scratched a run across in the fifth. TNU put two more on the board in the sixth and BC added one in the bottom half of the inning. Trevecca finished off the scoring with a run in the seventh. The visitors had 13 hits and two errors while the host Wildcats had two hits and three errors. Trevecca Marty Parks was 2-5 with a RBI and a double. Trevecca had five doubles in the game. Brett Thaler was 3-5 with two RBI and two doubles. Brian Dirheimer was 1-3 with a three-run home run. Wade Angel was 1-4 with a pair of stolen bases. Nick Shoup (6-0) got the win with 8.1 innings of work. He allowed just two hits, two runs, one earned run, six walks and five strikeouts. Brent Amburn pitched the final two outs of the game. He allowed a walk and struck out one.
The two will finish the series on Saturday (Noon double-header) in McKenzie, Tenn.
