BASEBALL: Sweep Crichton, @ Georgetown Tuesday
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – NAIA No. 6 Trevecca (19-7, 7-1) completed the series sweep of Crichton (13-16, 4-6) with a double-header sweep of Crichton (5-0, 7-4) on Saturday.
TNU pulled ahead in game one with a pair of runs in the third and added a single run in the fourth and completed the scoring with two in the sixth. The Trojans had 11 hits and no errors while the Comets had just one hit and no errors. Chris Lowe was 3-3 with a run scored and two stolen bases. Cody Heggie was 1-3 with a run scored, a home run and two RBI. Wesley Griggs (4-2) pitched a complete game one hitter for the win. He allowed four walks and had six strike outs.
In game three of the series Crichton jumped on top with a run in the second, but Trevecca answered with two in the bottom half of the inning. TNU added three in the fourth, but CC added three of their own in the top of the fifth. The Trojans closed the door with two in the sixth. TNU had 11 hits and an error while CC had seven hits and no errors. Marty Parks provided the offense with a 2-4 effort with three RBI and a double. Chris Lowe was 2-3 with two runs scored and a stolen base. Justin Mundy was 2-2 with two RBI. Barrett Brown (3-0) picked up the win while Ben Johnson (2) got the save.
Trevecca will visit Georgetown College (13-11) on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
