CLEVELAND, Tenn. – NAIA No. 10 Trevecca (16-5) fell 7-2 at NAIA No. 3 Lee University (30-1) on Monday at Lee’s Olympic Field. Lee is coached by former Trojan Mark Brew.
The Trojans scored a run in the third to make it a 2-1 game. Trevecca didn’t score again until posting a run in the ninth. TNU had four hits and three errors. The Flames plated two runs in the second before scoring single runs in the sixth and seventh before sealing the win with a three-run eighth. Lee had 12 hits and two errors.
Landry Walker was the only Trevecca player with more than one hit, finishing 2-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base.
Ben Johnson (1-2) took the loss, throwing five innings and striking out three. He allowed two earned runs on seven hits and five walks. Nick Shoup and Chris Sutherland also saw action for TNU.
Trevecca will play a pair of seven-inning games at Auburn-Montgomery (21-8-2) on Tuesday. This is a change from the previous schedule that had the teams playing a single nine-inning game on Tuesday and Wednesday. Weather concerns for Wednesday prompted the move. AUM is a team that should get serious consideration for the next NAIA Top 25 poll. The poll will be released on Wednesday afternoon.
