15-3 After 15-6 Win
PULASKI, Tenn. – NAIA No. 10 Trevecca (15-3, 3-0) defeated Martin Methodist (14-9, 4-2) by the score of 15-6 and Thursday night.
Trevecca scored a run in the top of the first, but Martin Methodist took the lead with four in the bottom of the second inning. TNU scored a run in the third, tied the game with two in the fourth and took the lead with one in the fifth. The RedHawks tied the game at five with a run in the sixth but the Trojans broke the game open with five in the seventh inning. MMC made it 10-6 with a run in the seventh. Trevecca scored five more runs in the ninth for the 15-6 conference win.
Trevecca scored 15 runs on 17 hits with two errors. Martin Methodist had six runs on nine hits and two errors. Nick Shoup (4-0) went six innings and allowed five runs on five hits and four walks. He struck out four. Drew Durossette pitched 1.2 innings and allowed four hits and a run with two walks. Steven Brown pitched the final 1.1 innings and allowed just one walk in earning a save. Jarrett Sellers started and took the loss for the RedHawks.
Chris Lowe was 3-6 with a run scored, five RBI, a home run and a stolen base. Cody Heggie was 3-5 with a pair of doubles and a RBI. Wade Angel was 2-5 with two runs scored, two RBI and a home run. Ross Muirhead was 4-5 with two runs scored, two RBI and a stolen base. Marty Parks was 2-4 with two runs scored, two walks, an RBI, a double and a stolen base.
The teams will play a double-header on Friday at 5 p.m.
Trevecca will visit NAIA No. 3 Lee University (26-1) on Monday at 5 p.m. Lee is coached by former Trojan Mark Brew.
