BASEBALL: Defeat Georgetown
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – NAIA No. 10 Trevecca (12-3, 2-0) defeated Georgetown College (6-6) by the score of 11-3 on Tuesday.
Each team scored a run in the first and Georgetown scored a pair of runs in the second. Trevecca answered with three in the bottom of the second to take a 4-3 lead. Trevecca added a run in the fourth and led 5-3. The Tigers pulled ahead with four runs in the fifth and a run in the sixth to take a 8-5 lead. Trevecca tied the game with three in the sixth and scored the winning runs with three in the eighth.
Trevecca scored 11 runs on 12 hits and weren’t credited with a error. Georgetown scored their eight runs with 10 hits and had five errors.
Drew Durossette started and pitched 4 1/3 before giving way to Wesley Griggs. Griggs pitched 1 2/3 and set the table for Brent Amburn (3-0) who came in and got the win with three innings of work. Durossette allowed six runs, five earned. Griggs allowed two runs, one earned. Amburn pitched three scoreless innings.
Marty Parks was 2-for-3 with three RBI, a home run and two runs scored. Parks home run was a three-run homer. Chase Birdwell was 1-for-3 with three runs scored, a home run, a walk, and a RBI. Dylan Lynch was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Landry Walker was 2-for-5 with two runs scored and a double.
Trevecca’s Wednesday (March 5) game at Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) has been cancelled.
