NASHVILLE, Tenn. – NAIA No. 17 Trevecca (9-3) hosted Bethel (Ind.) College (1-2) on Saturday for a double-header to wrap up their weekend series. The Trojans and Pilots split the double header with the Trojans taking game one 5-0 and the Pilots taking the finale 3-2.
Game one saw the Trojans jump out to the early lead when Aaron Bree knocked in Marty Parks with a sacrifice fly, giving the Trojans the 1-0 edge. Parks notched a sac fly of his own in the third inning, and Cody Heggie added a three RBI triple, stretching the lead to the final margin of 5-0.
Barrett Brown (1-0) earned the victory for Trevecca, tossing a complete game shutout, allowing just two hits while walking five and striking out seven. Heggie was 1-for-3 for the Trojans with the double (4) and three RBI (11), and Chris Lowe was 2-for-3 with a run scored (9). Chad Emberton (0-1) took the loss for the Pilots. In game two, Bethel scored a run in the top of the first inning to take the early lead, holding the advantage into the fifth inning. The Trojans scratched a run across in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game at 1-1, but despite having a runner on third with only one out, could not push the go ahead run across. Bethel plated a pair in the top of the sixth to reclaim the lead at 3-1, and though the Trojans were able to plate a run with one out in the seventh, Bethel held on for the 3-2 win.
Drew Durossette (3-1) took the loss for the Trojans, tossing six innings of seven hit baseball and allowing three earned runs while walking four and fanning six. Andrew Biskupski (1-0) earned the win for the Pilots. Brian Dirheimer was 2-for-3 in the game with a triple (1); Chris Lowe was 2-for-3; and Wade Angel was 1-for-2 with a pair of RBI (9). Bethel College scored three runs on seven hits and Trevecca scored two runs on six hits. Neither team committed an error in the game.
Trevecca will host Shorter College (6-7) on Tuesday, February 26 for a double header. First pitch is scheduled for Noon.
