BASEBALL: 8-2 after 11-6 Win Over Bethel (Ind.)
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – NAIA No. 17 Trevecca (8-2) defeated Bethel (Ind.) College (0-1) by the score of 11-6 on Friday. Nick Shoup (2-0) got the win on the mound for Trevecca and Marty Parks was 4-for-4 with two runs scored, a double, a triple, a stolen base and a RBI.
Trevecca scored two in the bottom of the first before Bethel tied the game at two in the top of the third. Trevecca scored four in the bottom of the third to take a 6-2 lead. The Pilots added a run in the top of the fourth.
Trevecca added to their lead with five runs in the sixth inning to pull ahead 11-3. BC scored three runs in the top of the ninth before the Trojans shut them down to secure a 11-6 victory.
Nick Shoup lasted six innings while allowing six hits, three runs, and three walks. Shoup sat down seven on strikes. Ben Johnson came on for the final three innings and allowed six hits, three runs, and a walk while striking out one.
Chris Lowe was 1-for-5 with two runs scored, a stolen base and a RBI. Dylan Lynch was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, a double, a stolen base and a RBI. Landry Walker was 2-for-4 with a run scored, a double and two RBI. Adam Bland was 2-for-5 with three RBI. Aaron Bree hit a solo home run (1) with a 1-for-3 effort.
Daniel Halley (0-1) took the loss for Bethel. Trevecca scored 11 runs on 15 hits and had an error. Bethel scored their six runs on 12 hits and had an error.
The two teams will play a double-header on Saturday starting at Noon. This is a change from the original schedule.
