BASEBALL: Beat Covenant
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – NAIA No. 17 Trevecca (6-2) visited Covenant College (2-8) and picked up an 8-5 win on Tuesday. The game was played at historic Engel Stadium.
Brent Amburn picked up his second win of the year and Chris Sutherland (Overton) picked up his third save for the Trojans. Offensively Ross Muirhead led the way as he was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two stolen bases.
Both teams broke through in the third with three runs. Trevecca scored a pair of runs in the fourth to take a 5-3 lead. Trevecca added three more runs in the eighth and Covenant scored the games final runs with two in the bottom of the eighth.
Trevecca was led by Aaron Bree who was 1-for-2 with a double, a pair of RBI, a walk, and two sacrifices. Landry Walker was 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored. Cody Heggie had a triple with an RBI and run scored in his only plate appearance.
Brent Amburn (2-0) pitched six innings to get the victory. He allowed seven hits, three runs, and three walks while striking out six. Chris Sutherland pitched the final three innings for his third save of the season. Sutherland allowed three hits, two runs and three walks while striking out four.
Trevecca had 11 hits and Covenant had 10 with three errors.
Trevecca will host No. 24 Campbellsville University (1-0) on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
