Open Season with 10-3 Win
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – NAIA No. 17 opened their baseball season with a 10-3 eight-inning win over Milligan College at Jackson Field.
Milligan scored the first run of the game in the top of the fourth inning. Trevecca picked up its first hit and runs of the season in the bottom of the fifth inning. Trevecca’s Landry Walker produced the first hit of the season and later scored the Trojans’ first run of the year when Ross Muirhead drew a bases loaded walk. Trevecca would go on to score nine runs in the inning on four hits and a Milligan error. The inning started with back-to-back-to-back hits by Walker, Cody Heggie, and Justin Mundy. The Trojans scored another run in the bottom of the sixth to take a 10-1 lead. Milligan bounced back with two runs in the top of the seventh.
Milligan’s Todd Caldwell (0-1) started and gave up seven runs on three this and stuck out four while walking four over 4.2 innings.
Barrett Brown (0-0) started for the Trojans and lasted four innings. The senior gave up one run on two hits. Brown struck out three and walked six. Trevecca’s Drew Durossette (1-0) came on in relief and picked up the win. Durossette threw four innings and gave up one run on two hits and two walks. He struck out four.
Wade Angel drove in two runs on a sacrifice fly to deep right center. Aaron Bree was 1-3 with a run and two RBI. Marty Parks was 1-2 with two runs, a walk, and a RBI.
Trevecca scored 10 runs on seven hits and drew six walks. Milligan scored three runs on four hits and drew eight walks.
